Tentang Lembaga

The Yogyakarta International School (YIS) was founded in 1989 as Yogya’s flagship for international primary and secondary education based on international curriculums. Being an independent school the YIS accepts students irrespective of nationality, gender, race or faith. The school operates under a legal Foundation that is licensed by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and is a member of East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS).

Experienced and qualified foreign and local teachers provide quality education for classes that range from preschool and kindergarten, to elementary level grades 1-6, and secondary level grades 7-12.

The YIS campus is located in a spacious garden surrounded by teak, mango, cacao, star fruit and other trees. The classrooms face a central courtyard that serves as play ground. The school has its own sports fields, a science lab, a music studio, an art studio, a library, a computer lab, a language center, and a canteen.

The YIS has been gradually growing into a school of about 100 students from countries all over the world. Students can be enrolled for the entire school year, or per term.

Accreditation

The YIS offers a primary and secondary school education program that complies with international standards of accreditation and is compatible with other international schools worldwide. The YIS is a member of EARCOS.

Curriculums

The teaching programs are based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), Cambridge (IGCSE), and International Baccalaureate (MYP/IB). This implies that reports, diploma and certificates issued by the YIS are compatible with other international schools in Indonesia and abroad, and with universities worldwide. All teaching is in English. Besides, the curriculums include also French, Spanish, Mandarin and Indonesian.

Extra-curriculum

Besides the regular teaching programs, YIS students have a wide choice of extra-curricular subjects to develop their creative talents and sportive skills, including music and drama, green club and cooking lab, oil painting and stone sculpture, robotics and 3D-modelling, swimming and taekwondo, soccer and field hockey, basket ball and bdminton. In addition students can join cultural and scientific excursions, and participate in exchange programs with other international schools.
