Bambini Montessori

The curriculum areas are: Practical Life Exercises, Sensorial Education, Language, Math, Geography, Botany and Zoology, Science, History, Art and Creativity, Music and Movement.

PRACTICAL LIFE EXERCISE
They are simple activities that adults perform daily. The activities relate to the physical and social development, which stress more on the process rather than the end-result. The aims are primarily to develop independence, self-discipline concentration, and motor skills coordination without ignoring other aspects of development such as the language and intelligence. Independence and self-discipline do not come automatically but must be learned to set a pattern of good work habits and a sense of responsibility. We allow the child to experience success at early age to build up a positive self-image which leads the child to take the next task with confidence.

SENSORIAL EDUCATION 
Sensorial materials provide exercises for refining the senses. It also prepares the child for direct and indirect experience in the field of mathematics, reading, writing, science, etc.

LANGUAGE
Bambini Montessori School is an English speaking environment. The language competence develops through vocabulary enrichment, rhymes, poetry, stories, language cards, word games and many others which assist in the growth of literacy. The children learn to read by recognizing the phonetic sounds which in fact make them easier to compose words. Meanwhile, they learn to write from the simple arm movements and coordination exercises before moving to the handwriting skills. Bambini prepares children from building words to creative writing.

MATHEMATICS
Bambini prepares mathematics materials to stimulate the child's curiosity towards numbers. We introduce the concepts of big and small, tall and short, comparison, grading and grouping as well as the perception of dimension from concrete to abstract. In this way, children get a clear understanding of quantity and sequence. In higher grade, Bambini helps children to learn arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division at their level.

CULTURAL STUDIES
As children are also a member of the world, therefore, it is important that they learn about their world: the physical, biological and geographical aspects and how to care for the environment. Bambini specifies cultural study into: biology, geography, history, science and cultures. We introduce children the basic knowledge like element of air, land and water and the features of those physical elements.

MUSIC, ARTS AND CREATIVITY
Music is a human expression. Our early music is to develop emotional aspects, musical appreciation, and the richness of words. Bambini also appreciates creativity as a means of self-expression, developing intellectual, physical and social growth. To this extend we provide music, art and craft activities and facilities: singing, dance, rhyme, drawing, painting, and collage as part of the program. As always, we look on the process then the result itself.

Unlike most classrooms, lessons are presented to individual child according to the child’s level of understanding and readiness. In this way the teacher assists effectively the specific needs of learning to each child. The mastery of the lesson is achieved by performing tasks rather than through listening and memorizing words. In turn, the child becomes highly motivated and develops concentration.

BABY
Babies and Toddlers are in the rapid development of their motor skills. The baby and toddler classrooms have an open access to the gym room where the needs for movement for their physical growth are facilitated. 
Movements and coordination are exercised through music and movement, art activities and many other activities suitable at their age. By allowing children to explore and do self-initiated activities, independence and self confidence develop.

TODDLER
The toddlers have more manipulative materials as they develop their perceptual skills. Independence and confidence continue to develop through Practical Life skills which cover a wide range of simple daily activities such as toilet training, dressing and feeding themselves, also make-and-do activities by themselves.

PRESCHOOL
Preschool children develop their cognitive, social, emotional, motor and perceptual skills through the curriculumareas. The Life skills that they deal everyday within their ‘community’ help the children to become independent and socialized at the same time. They are introduced to early literacy and math concept using a step-by-step method in the most acceptable way from the child’s perspective. This will continue to the kindergarten level.

KINDERGARTEN
As children learn to develop the social and emotional skills, they can work alone, or with a friend. They can sit on a chair or floor and spend as much time as they need while finishing the work. 
Children continue to develop and learn through an active process, which leads them to be mastery over school subjects. The practicing tasks which embody the concept of every subject help the children become a competent learner, preparing them a strong foundation for the primary level. Most important, children develop the social skills and moral awareness, resulting in a strong personality. They take account the consequences of one’s action which leads them to be a logical thinker.
