SINARMAS WORLD ACADEMY (SWA) offers an outstanding English language and challenging international educational programme. SWA opened in July 2008, and currently offers Pre-K to Grade 12 with an enrolment of over 450 students. The first cohort of Grade 12 students graduated in June 2012. The Jakarta World Academy campus located in the city center currently offers Nursery – Grade 5 with an enrolment of over 150 students.

SWA has outstanding international award-winning facilities, which have been designed to suit the school’s commitment to providing an education that prepares students for life in the 21st century. Facilities are spacious and include gymnasiums; sport fields; fitness centre; pools; adventure playground; studios for art, music, dance and drama; science laboratories, theatre, libraries, IT Help Desk, student shop and a number of cafes and snack bars.

SWA is an IB World School, authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme, IB Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma Programme. SWA is also authorised to offer the Cambridge IGCSE programme. SWA is also a member of the Council of International Schools. Within its programmes, SWA provides a special focus on languages. English is the language of instruction, and all students study Indonesian and Chinese Mandarin.

SWA offers an intensive Chinese language programme in partnership with the prestigious Peking University Elementary School, China. SWA features curriculum development, learning in different contexts, cultural exchanges and teacher professional development opportunities.

There is a strong focus on technology, with a school wide laptop programme including a 1:1 programme from Grade 4 – 12. With each student being provided with a laptop. The student body represents 17 nationalities, including 45% international students and 55% students from Indonesia. The faculty represents an array of nationalities, coming from Indonesia, Australia, Canada, China, India, New Zealand, Philippines, United Kingdom and United States.

SWA offers an extensive co-curricular programme including a wide range of sports, performing arts and academic offerings. Popular programmes include the Global Issues Network (GIN), International Award, Model United Nations (MUN), Habitat for Humanity, and a wide range of inter-school competitions, artistic and cultural activities as well as other student initiated IB CAS projects. All students are involved in leadership and sustainable action with student led projects that support the Millennium Development Goals and CAS Learning outcomes. The annual Indonesian Field Study Trips are a weeklong programme providing an opportunity for students in Grade 6 – 12 to learn and work beyond the school campus and directly engage with Indonesian society and cultural experiences.
