KindyROO History

KindyROO was established as a preventative parent education, fun, learning centre specialising in developmental education for babies from six weeks old to children of five years of age.

The story of KindyROO's adventures with children's development and learning began 30 years ago when Margaret Sassé's, the founder, co founded ANSUA (A New Start For the Under Achiever) in Melbourne. The work of ANSUA focused on helping children with learning difficulties at school. Ten years into working as the Director of ANSUA, Margaret Sassé's gained insights that the problems these children were facing could be picked up and corrected when they were younger. In 1982, KindyROO was established as a preventative parent education, fun, learning centre specialising in developmental education for babies from six weeks old to children of five years of age. Margaret Sassé's had spent a lifetime dedicated to the development and learning skills of infants and toddlers. She had studied extensively in the USA, UK and Europe in areas of child Neuro development, early reflexes and sound therapy. Over the years, KindyROO has grown internationally with centres throughout Australia and around the world.

KindyROO Philosophy

KindyROO was established as a preventative parent education, fun, learning centre specialising in developmental education for babies from six weeks old to children of five years of age.

The KindyROO program is based on research, which isolated the first years of life as representing the period when all the foundations required for learning are developed including the structure of normal, natural, physical and emotional human growth through Neuro (brain) development. "Neuro-educational development is the programming of the brain by appropriate stimulation and experience via the nervous system, which in turn promotes solid foundations for learning".

KindyROO Mission

Our mission is "to help parents to understand the natural development of their children and to foster the learning potential and health of children, assisting them to fully develop their genetic potential"

KindyROO aims to achieve this mission by:

Enhancing sensory motor development and thus assisting children to fully develop their genetic potential.
Fostering parental awareness of the importance of early childhood development to health, behaviour and learning.
Providing supportive activities and promoting excellence in all areas of early childhood development.
Acting as a watch dog to prevent later learning difficulties.
Providing a fun learning environment for the child and the parent.

Program & Prestasi

Non-Mobile Babies (From six weeks up till they are mobile)

Enjoy quality time with your baby by stimulating your baby's sensory pathways with massage, exercise, strength activities and circuit introduction incorporating rocking, rolling and spatial awareness activities. The class aims to help parents to gain an understanding about special exercises and games, which encourage balance and body awareness. There is so much that a newborn baby can do and will enjoy doing. Learn to pick up on your baby's cues and let the fun begin.3

Mobile Babies

(Starts to crawl on tummy or to creep on hands and knees)

Crawling, creeping and inquisitive - into everything! Let's encourage this curiosity with exercises and activities that builds up muscle tone and body awareness, encourage time and space concepts and games to stimulate hand, foot and eye coordination. Auditory and visual stimulation activities also encourage language development.3

Penguins

(Walking – 1.5 years)

Once your little one is walking, they can take part in our Penguins class. We will promote balance and spatial awareness and introduce hand and finger plays to build on language development. Our exercises and dance will introduce sequencing and directionality. Massage time will develop an understanding of sensation and how it relates to body awareness. We can enjoy a challenging circuit with lots of activities encouraging weight transfer and balance for these upwardly mobile toddlers!

Koalas

(1.5 years – 2 years)

Now your child is walking confidently and is learning about "my place in space". A range of movement experience will encourage the pure delight in moving their bodies to the beat. Concept words with sensorial application help to understand the true meaning of a word and their relationship to vocabulary. We incorporate a circuit with some early motor planning challenges.

Wallabies

(2 years – 2.5 years)

In this class, specific activities such as our unique 'crocodile' movement are introduced during the massage session for body coordination and reflex inhibition. Dances are sequential, in an endeavour to help children move and think. Our classes are becoming more structured as this is also the time for children to start learning limits and to improve their concentration.

Kangaroos

(2.5 years – 3 years)

Bouncing everywhere! This class involves specific concepts with a term theme. Singing, dancing and rhythmical activities encourage sequential development – a very important foundation for later reading skills and mathematics. Imagination, visualisation and confidence in coordination are highlighted with our KindyROO treasure bag and sensational parachute games.

Possums

(3 years – 4 years)

Children receive information primarily through the visual, auditory, tactile, and balancing mechanisms within the brain. All conscious and controlled movement depend on one's ability to interpret this sensory input correctly. In this class, children learn to follow instructions, work in a team and solve problem. Our routine is designed to suit your child's developing skills, while increasing the concentration time and the complexity of instructions.

Emus

(4 years – 5 years)

This class is designed for school readiness. Sessions include the usual large equipment circuit where children strengthen muscles and improve coordination and balancing. They also do cross pattern activities, specific word visualisation and auditory stimulation, memory recall stimulation as well as perceptual motor programs. The aim of the session is to ensure that children have or are developing all areas required for successful learning at school.
