Our Mission Statement
Gandhi Memorial International School Bali; a dynamic learning community, propagates lifelong learning and responsible citizenship through a challenging, multidisciplinary, internationally transferable curriculum fulfilling the diverse needs of students. The school provides an atmosphere where diversity is considered a strength and where differences are seen as assets. We believe that students must value and respect the culture and traditions of our host country, Indonesia.
The school aims to develop self-confidence in each student; to teach adaptability and problem solving skills to face changes which are vital elements of emerging globalism and to develop good personal traits which include strong ethics, self-discipline, sportsmanship and self-esteem.
There is an emphasis on high academic standards. Although English is the principal medium of instruction, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, Hindi and French studies are part of the curriculum. The school encourages students to learn their mother tongue along with English.
The school also encourages students, through various outreach programmes, to develop respect and empathy for fellow human beings and their rights, regardless of race, creed or gender.
Middle Years Curriculum
The MYC (Middle Years Curriculum) programme consists of eight subject groups integrated through five areas of interaction that provide a framework for learning within and across the subjects. In the second term of each year, students engage in a Term End Project, which is trans-disciplinary and allows them to demonstrate the understanding and skills they have developed throughout the year.
The MYC is a framework for educational success for students approximately 11-14 years old. It develops children’s knowledge and skills in all subject areas and provides a framework of academic challenges that encourage students to become critical and reflective thinkers and embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world.
At the end of the Middle Years Curriculum, the students take the Cambridge Checkpoint tests which provide detailed feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses before they progress to 14-16/IGCSE and further into the IBDP.
The MYC revolves around four main components integrated and addressed in each of the taught subjects. These components are:

- LEADERSHIP
- E- LEARNING
- EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Community service is an integral part of the MYC.

Classrooms
These are spacious, air-conditioned and contain ergonomically designed furniture.Interactive (Smart) whiteboards and an LCD Projector system in place for all classrooms facilitate the learning process.
Lockers: Provided for all students in which they can secure their valuables.
WI-Fi: Fully wired campus with 10 MBPS band width to support fast internet in and out of the classrooms.
Laboratories
- Separate labs for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environment Sciences fully outfitted and in compliance with professional safety standards.
- Two Computer Labs of 25 terminals each (Senior and Junior) fitted with the Internet and multi-media equipment to foster e-learning.
- Language lab (With specialized audio visual system and 25 terminals)
Gymnasium / multi-purpose hall
- Splendid full sized A/C gymnasium with parquet wooden flooring and a progressive air-truss system.
- Separate changing facilities with showers available.
- Large movable stage with professional lighting system, large back-drop curtains and large sound system for plays and ceremonies.
Seminar Hall for knowledge sharing sessions, meetings and student related activities.
Library Resource Centre
Well-appointed library with an extensive range of reference books, newspapers, magazines, educational CDs, computer workstations, printer and photocopier. As part of the focus on E-learning, students are encouraged to use the Internet to access online international libraries for information. The library also has a Kid’s Story Time Reading Area with comfortable couches and clean carpets on the floor for everyone to spread out onto while listening to fabulous tales read by teachers and parents.
Music Rooms and Music Studios are well stocked with classical and Indonesian instruments and facilitate the study of the Royal School of Music – Vocals – Piano – Cello – Violin – Guitar –and traditional Indonesian musical instruments such as the ‘Angklung’ – ‘Gamelan’ – ‘Kulintang’ as part of our strong Arts Department.
Arts & Crafts
There are 4 well equipped Arts & Crafts rooms. In addition there are hobby classes in various kinds of painting, Batik Design, pottery, candle making and cooking.
Infirmary
Well equipped and manned by qualified nursing staff.
Food Court
Serving Indonesian, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Continental cuisine.
Hygiene & Sanitation
Full time facility service support by ISS, a professional cleaning service.
Security: great emphasis is placed on school security with a strong professional team from G4S on hand 24/7; More than 60 CCTV security cameras and monitors in place; alarmed emergency exits; well maintained and regularly checked fire and safety equipment consisting of smoke detectors in all classes and extinguishers in all hallways and hydrants easily accessed outside. Visitor ID Badges and Student ID Card systems are in place and working effectively along with a ‘Swipe Card’ system entry gate for all school access
